Healthier street food project: preterm chairman of AfREN served on WUR-NIFST collaboration project

Increasing vegetable availability, quality and intake in urban Nigeria through a food systems approach intervention; a Wageningen University Research (WUR) -NIFST collaborative intervention project. The project aimed to contribute to healthier diets in urban Nigeria by increasing the amount of vegetables through an innovation in the food environment, value chain and the consumer environment of street food. The hypothesis tested was the practical and economic feasibility of increasing green leafy vegetable in different types of existing street foods in Lagos, Nigeria, for street food vendors and vegetable suppliers. The other aim being to assess the impact of the additional green leafy vegetables in the different types of street food meal on vegetable consumption and overall consumer satisfaction of the meal. The field work divided into baseline and intervention weeks had Dr ‘Dola Adeboye as a Coordinator leading a team of moderators and enumerators for data collection. Areas covered by the projects included Mushin, Gbagada, Surulere and Abule-Egba in Lagos State. #agriculture #foodsecurity #streetfood #intervention
